This Privacy Policy describes how QuizHub ("the App", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (handled securely by Firebase Authentication; we never see or store your raw password).
1.2 Content You Provide
To generate quizzes, you may submit a topic, instructions, or a document (PDF, image, DOCX, or TXT file). Uploaded documents are processed to generate quiz questions and are automatically deleted from our storage shortly after processing, whether generation succeeds or fails. We do not retain your original document.
1.3 Quiz Data
Quizzes you generate, your quiz attempts, scores, and progress are stored so you can access your quiz history and results.
1.4 Public Quizzes and Sharing
If you choose to "Post" a quiz you've generated, it becomes visible to other users of the App in the public quiz feed, along with your display name. Other users can view your public profile, which shows the quizzes you've posted.
Any quiz you generate — posted or not — can also be shared via a direct link. Anyone who receives that link can view and attempt the quiz, even if it hasn't been posted to the public feed. Unposted quizzes are not discoverable by browsing or searching the App; only someone with the exact link can access them.
1.5 Social Features: Following, Blocking, and Reporting
You can follow other creators, and other users can follow you — we store this relationship so we can show your Following feed and let followers know when you post. You can also block a creator, which hides their quizzes from your feed; we store your block list so it persists across sessions. If you or another user submits a report (about a quiz or about a user), we store the report — including the reason, any message you add, and your account identifier — so an admin can review it. Reports are only visible to admins, not to other users.
1.6 Push Notifications
If you enable notifications, we store a device notification token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can notify you — for example, when a creator you follow posts a new quiz. You can disable notifications at any time from your device's system settings.
1.7 Purchase Information
If you purchase coin packs through Google Play, the purchase is processed by Google Play Billing. We receive confirmation of the purchase and transaction identifiers to credit your account, but we do not collect or store your payment card details.
1.8 Automatically Collected Information
We use third-party services that may automatically collect certain information, including device identifiers, advertising identifiers, app usage events, and crash diagnostics, as described in Section 3 below.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account
- To generate quizzes from the topics or documents you provide
- To track your coin balance, purchases, and rewarded ad credits
- To save your quiz history and progress
- To display quizzes you choose to post, and your display name, to other users in the public feed and your public profile
- To power following, blocking, and notifying you about creators you follow
- To review reports submitted about quizzes or users, for moderation purposes
- To display advertisements
- To diagnose crashes and improve app stability and performance
- To detect and prevent fraud or abuse of the app's coin system
3. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services, each with its own privacy policy governing how they handle data:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore Database, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, Remote Config, App Check, Analytics, Crashlytics) - used to run the app's core functionality, store your data securely, send push notifications, and diagnose crashes.
- Google Gemini / Vertex AI - the topic, instructions, or document you submit is sent to Google's Gemini AI model to generate quiz questions.
- Google AdMob - used to display advertisements, including rewarded video ads. AdMob may collect advertising identifiers and usage data to show and measure ads.
- Google Play Billing - used to process in-app purchases of coin packs.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your account and quiz data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from the Profile screen within the app (see our Account Deletion page for full details), which permanently deletes your account, quizzes, coin/transaction history, uploaded documents, and your following/follower and blocked-user relationships.
Reports you have submitted, or that other users have submitted about you or your content, are retained after account deletion for trust & safety review — this matches common moderation practice and prevents deleting an account from erasing evidence of reported abuse.
If you received a signup bonus, a one-way cryptographic hash of your email address — not the email address itself — is also retained after account deletion, solely to prevent the same email from claiming a new-account signup bonus more than once. This hash cannot be reversed back into your email and is not linked to any other data about you.
5. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures, including Firebase's security rules and authentication, to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your Choices
You can review and update your account information (including your display name) from within the app, manage who you follow or have blocked, and delete your account and data at any time. You may also limit ad tracking through your device's advertising settings, and disable push notifications through your device's notification settings.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
